Khadijah is an actress, writer and producer from Dallas, Texas. At an early age, Ms. Karriem began performing around the Dallas metropolitan area, and in school plays.
Her training as an actress began to take shape when she was accepted into the highly acclaimed Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet High School in Dallas, Texas. After winning the first-place award in the Arts Recognition and Talent Search for Texas, she went on to the Nationals where she placed third. She then went on to attend the prestigious University of the Arts School, in Philadelphia. She starred in several stage productions. Ms Karriem wrote, produced, and performed, her solo show stage thesis, “The Blue’s Ain’t Nothin but Women”, the story of Dinah Washington.
Since graduating with a B.F.A in theater, Ms. Karriem has appeared in various film, television, and stage roles including Walker Texas Ranger, the made-for-TV movie True Women, co-starring along side of Angelina Jolie, Dana Delaney, and Charles Dutton.
In 1997, Ms. Karriem moved west to pursue her calling in the city of entertainment, Los Angeles California. Guess starring in such shows as “NYPD Blue”, “Any Day Now”, “The Practice”, and ARLI$$, but it was her performance in NBC’s The First Years, where she played a convicted mother fighting for her daughter, that showed critics her talents were beyond the norm.
On the stage, Khadijah Karriem continued to show her talents when she co-starred with “Two and a Half Men’s” star Jon Cryer in the hit stage play “900 Oneonta”. She was reviewed by Variety as giving a “walloping performance”.
Ms. Karriem has appeared in many independent films as a lead/supporting character, including Lifetime’s “The Perfect Wife”, “Redemption” and her acclaimed starring role in the film Kissed by the Devil directed by M. Legend Brown.
Over the years, Ms. Karriem has studied with some of the top coaches and teachers such as acting Coach Kimberly Jentzen, from the Living the Art Institute, who is quoted as saying, “Khadijah is an intelligent actress with strong emotional instincts. She shows an instinctive gift on the stage as well as in film. She has an indelible charisma and theatrical range. I believe she has the ability to go very far in this business.”
In addition to her acting credits, Khadijah has written several screenplays, including the television series Texas Bounty, which she produced and her present feature film in pre-production; Recession Proof, which she will also star.
